At the U.S. Department of Energy’s Utah FORGE site, EV’s ClearVision™ technology enabled the first-ever combined video and ultrasound evaluation of perforations and plugs in an active EGS reservoir.

Following stimulation of their high-temperature primary injection well, the Utah FORGE team needed precise verification of plug isolation and a clear understanding of perforation erosion to evaluate fracture uniformity.

Using ClearVision™, EV collected high-resolution downhole video alongside ultrasonic measurements, marking the first time these technologies were combined in an EGS well to visualize and verify bridge plug and perforation placement.

ClearVision

ClearVision™ is the world’s only integrated array video and phased array ultrasound scanning tool. It combines state-of-the-art 360° video and phased array ultrasound technologies to offer the most advanced 4D evaluation system for wellbore applications. With unsurpassed accuracy and unambiguous information, ClearVision™ provides a complete understanding to help overcome any obstacle and maximize well performance.

PlugVA

PlugVA™ utilizes array camera video footage to identify the location of the stage plug setting area after the frac and plug mill-out operations are complete. By analyzing the inner surfaces of the liner in this region it is possible to confirm the exact setting depth, verify pressure containment and identify unwanted performance features such as plug slippage or the leakage of fluids across the sealing surfaces.

PerforationVA

Combining high-definition images of individual perforations with accurate measurements of entry hole geometry, PerforationVA provides the most complete in-situ perforation evaluation available.
