A critical geothermal injection well supporting a power plant had been experiencing a steady decline in injection capacity over several years. As the primary injection well, any intervention carried significant operational risk.
A previous caliper survey had confirmed an obstruction, with mud or debris initially assumed to be the cause. To remove uncertainty, the operator deployed EV's Optis® R125 camera system on E-Line to capture high-definition downhole video of the restriction.
EV's Restriction Analytics Service then identified the true issue - there was no mud or debris. Instead, the analysis revealed a casing collapse below a casing collar, with further damage at the connection, severely restricting flow.
With clear visual evidence and quantified analysis, the operator was able to avoid unnecessary intervention and make an informed strategic decision on the well's future.
