Riser & Caisson Inspection

EV delivers inspection services for the internal and external visual inspection of risers and caissons. The information provided in these inspections can be used to support Risk Based Inspection (RBI) programmes and fitness for purpose assessments. The camera based inspection tools can provide full 360° and forward facing surveys.

The down and side view tools can be supplied with internal lights that are a combination of white and ultraviolet LED's this can give the option of using Fluorescein dye penetrant to identify or confirm the location of a crack or fracture.

EV's existing inspection tools can be used on risers or caissons from 3" up to 15". Systems are available to extend the inspection from the vertical into the horizontal section of risers. Larger diameter risers or caissons can also be catered for but may require some up front engineering. We can also offer specialised bespoke systems for unique applications.

Inspection tools are rated up to 4500 psi and therefore can be used in flooded or non-flooded environments. Using cameras with positioning / indexing data it is possible to collect data annually to allow condition monitoring or trending of defects due to erosion or corrosion.

• Caisson visual condition assessments
• Riser leak inspections, including a UV light and Fluorescein dye to assist location
• Annual inspections to permit continued riser corrosion trending
• Closed caisson internal /external riser inspection (inspecting through ports on a sampling tube)
• Internal damage surveys on flexible risers
